Varde for Apple TV
Common things
The scan finds no cameras.
Battery cameras disconnect from Wi-Fi entirely while they sleep, so they cannot answer a scan. Press the doorbell or walk past the camera, then scan again within a few seconds. Mains-powered cameras answer at any time — if none appear, the Apple TV is probably on a different network than the cameras.
The camera says the password is wrong, but it is right.
Reolink accepts only these characters in a password: a–z, A–Z, 0–9 and
@$*~_-+=!?.,:;'()[]. Anything else breaks the video stream rather than the
login. Change it in the Reolink app, then update it under Edit camera in Varde.
A camera opens, then shows a black picture.
Some models send high quality as H.265 in a form Apple TV cannot decode. Varde falls back to standard quality by itself and says so. If it stays black, use the report button — the report carries exactly what is needed to add support for that model.
Recordings are missing, or a clip will not play.
The memory card is a ring buffer: older clips are overwritten as new ones arrive, so a clip you saw in the list yesterday may be gone today. If nothing at all appears, the camera may have no card, or it is not set to record.
Set-up is painful with the remote.
You do not have to use it. The camera list syncs through your iCloud account, so you can add cameras on an iPhone or iPad with a keyboard and they appear on the Apple TV.
Reporting a fault
When a stream fails for a reason that is ours to fix, Varde shows a report button. It puts a QR code on screen; scanning it opens the report on your phone, where you can read every line before sending. Nothing is sent from the Apple TV, and the report cannot contain your password, your Wi-Fi name or your camera's name — see privacy.
That is the most useful way to reach us: the report carries the model, the firmware and exactly where the video stopped.
